The fog rolls in from the Winter’s dormant lake

The tranquilly of a long cold season has been disturbed

Unexpected warmth breaks the doldrums

The unknown from the known elicits emotion

 

The break from arctic winds is well received

Gray smoke settles in as a physical reminder

All is right but only for a period

Uprooted perception brings forth chaos

 

For the reprieve, gratefulness is quickly expired

Yet not for the knowledge of a frosty return

But for desecration of experienced knowledge

The mind is challenged from uncertainty

 

Through the passing shuttle of warmer air

Nature strikes down with simplistic impunity

The affirmation of a mortal soul’s helplessness

In its quest, control is but the fleeting fog itself

 

 

Seeing forest through tress is an expression old

And its point is one not bold

Alas over time the mind does fold

And ceases to see the picture whole

While the single oak can be majestic

And to see its beauty one is blessed

But to avoid a mind infested

We need ability to vision past it

Not wrong is it to run fingers on bark

And a single branch is where birds do lark

However our existence is but a single part

In this entire world’s unending arc

In this life we are doomed

Everyone meets the end

Back to ground, air, and sea

Everyone who’s foe or good friend

Some foolish may conjure

Ever they will have a resilience

A lack of understanding

Ever they will rest there in silence

What lays beyond

Always that of our grasp

In time each will discover

Always how they will last

To be more complex, one simply must think

That time to reflect, while washing hands at the sink

In the passing of a blink, no one suspects

All colors but pink, in the mind rests

Thoughts of a time, somewhere in the distance

Either forward or backward, are gone in an instant

A thinkers persistence, when subjects combine

Must not be flippant, to ideas from the mine

Even these dark places, can evoke celebration

And light dower faces, with slight provocation

The manifestation, of charging mind races

Is the great destination, the thinking that saves us.

I tried to clean up my act

But I ran out of soap

I tried to come down

But I had too much dope

They were going to hang me

But had too short of rope

They were going to burn me

But all it was smoke

We were going to climb

But only faced slope

We were going to deal

But just couldn’t cope

Everybody wants answers

But not if its nope

Everybody wants faith

But can’t get past hope
